HP Inc. launches HP LIFE Center to support tech-enabled learning for women

The leader in computing and printing solutions inaugurates its HP LIFE Center in Jalisco aiming to develop computer and business skills to advance economic empowerment

November 27, 2019

Today, HP Inc. held the inauguration of a new HP LIFE Center located in Zapopan Jalisco. HP believes that education is a fundamental human right that can improve the lives of everyone, everywhere. The launch of HP LIFE Center in Guadalajara represents a fundamental step into the creation of more equitable and inclusive communities where women can have the skills to be part of a growing and sustainable work environment within and for their communities.

HP LIFE is a free global program from the HP Foundation that provides business and 21st century skills to entrepreneurs, small business owners, and lifelong learners. Available in seven languages, HP LIFE courses are self-paced and interactive, and will be one of several ways the centers are creating truly sustainable impact and strengthening communities and livelihoods across Mexico. HP LIFE is available online for anyone with an Internet connection, and offline on the Kolibri platform by Learning Equality.

“This new technology center is where HP will work with marginalized women of all ages in vulnerable conditions, so they can have access to multiple learning opportunities that will help drive positive entrepreneurial and employment outcomes. The programs will support linkages to the labor market and promise dignified work opportunities, deepening HP’s commitment to sustainable impact and advancing progress toward HP’s corporate goal of enabling better learning outcomes for 100 million people by 2025,” said Flor López, from HP Inc, Mexico.

As part of a global partnership with UN Women, the nature of the content of this Center will provide incentives around economic empowerment, access to quality education and opportunities to support the work of men and women to achieve a more inclusive and gender-equitable world.

HP has provided in-kind technology grants, allowing the beneficiaries of the initiative to access skill-based content, including HP LIFE. Teachers will be equipped and trained to teach with the HP Elite Dragonfly, the world’s first notebook with ocean-bound plastics. The center also features an extensive portfolio of HP printing technology, which are easily adaptable to users’ needs to take full advantage of this unique educational experience.
